Simon Hogsberg
We loved this concept of two images side by side that Simon used in his piece, "Faces of New York". It is a beautiful comparison of detail, with the first image, and the length of the second picture. We could see our project following a similar pattern, with say the people of Cortland...Even the positive and negative space that is happening with the photos of Joan Darrow, with the fence and ceiling breaking up the dark spaces. Each person in each photo has a very interesting perspective of their own face, which also adds much more to the piece. The other piece that we decided to interpret was the interface of The Thought Project. We loved the idea of the interactive interface, but we could take our own spin on it instead using entire faces for the interface. Dance Dance Dance's concept was the work that seemed the best choice for what we wanted to work with though. The concept of a finding life in such a small town was just the way to go when thinking about Cortland. The students are what bring this town to life so we will work on capturing reactions to the students. Between these pieces, we have decided our group can work off of these concepts and make our own concept out of.
